Christmas Medallion

I knew the whole "simple" Christmas cards wouldn't last long! This one took some engineering but it worked!  I've had some sticker sheets that I picked up here and there, most of which have no brand name on them, and decided it was time to use them up.  This one was several sizes of medallions that I put on red foil and layered up with dimensionals.  Then came the center step card that had to fit the medallion, so it's 5 x 7 with an extra wide center.  The cardstock is Real Red and the DP is Stampin Up too.  The corners on the front are Cheery Lynn Lace Corner Deco E dies and the rest is just from my stash.

I had to have the red stripes show thru when it was closed, so the inside sentiment is on a
circle cut with Spellbinders nestabilities.  The medallion is hung on some gold cord wedged between the front and an extra piece of cardstock at the top inside.

I think this one will be going to someone special, because it is one of a kind!

Cards for Kids

Another special order card - I think I'm making up for lost time!  I used the cute cow from Jackie Topa's Cute Critter class and added a Silhouette fence and grass made with a Martha Stewart punch.  The balloons are from SU's Birthday Whimsy set that were embossed with Sparkle N Sprinkle's Ice, Cotton Candy, and Gold Coast embossing powders.  The clouds were made with a template cut with the Silhouette and sponged with Memento Danube Blue. The rest is computer generated.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Digi Darlas - Fin, Feathers, Fur
Hobbycutz - Card for a Child
Word Play Saturday - Childhood
2 Creative Chicks - Anything Goes for Kids

The second card was for my grandson who just turned 7.  The Happy Birthday was cut on the Silhouette and the bat, glove, and hat are free clipart.  The duck is also a Jackie Topa design. The grassy knoll was done with three shades of flocking that was rubbed into sticky paper.  I think I like that look better than using glue with the flocking. Carter loved the feel of it!

Fields of Gold

This was a fun card to do because it's so different from anything I've done. Since it's for my friend's husband I had to refrain from glitters, frilly flowers and anything else that would make it too girly and that wasn't easy!  I did have to add the little blue flowers because they were the wild flowers along the banks of the lake where they got married.  The flowers are made with three different punches. The pictures were reduced to 2.5" and printed on vellum and mounted on white cardstock so that they look soft instead of the glossy glare of a regular picture.  If you click on the picture of the card, you can see the little photos better.  The flourishes are a Memory Box die and the background is the last line of their song "Fields of Gold" printed on Bashful Blue in gold ink.  The card had to be 5.5" x 8.5" to fit all that on it.

The inside of the card has the entire song lyrics on the left side and a few more pictures of the park where they walk a lot and where they got married. I don't think you can get a more personalized anniversary card anywhere!  So romantic!

On a Roll!

Before I get to my cards, I want to thank all of my followers and all of my visitors for such a wonderful experience here in Blogland - for all of the new friends I've made and all of the kind words of encouragement AND all of the inspiration I find here amongst you!  Last Saturday, August 3rd marked the second anniversary of my blog and wouldn't you know it, just now, at 8:00 on
Wednesday August 7th I have hit
 10,000
visitors!  Woo-hoo!  Thank you all so very much!

Now, on to my latest two "simple" Christmas cards!  I've had some Christmas embossing folders for a while now and finally decided to use them.  The first one seemed to go perfectly with the SU "Tree Trimmings" set.  The ornament is simply embossed with detail gold, as is the gold layer border.
The second card uses the cardinal embossing folder with some glitter cardstock and rhinestones.
So now I have 20 Christmas cards down and 40 more to go!  I'm feeling really good about that!

First Christmas Card for 2013!

Well, I've decided that in order to get more Christmas cards done this year than last I need to keep them Clean and Simple.  We'll see how long that resolution lasts! This is a digi stamp by Stitchy Bear Digis called O Winter Trees that I simply printed out in green ink and then covered with Sparkle N Sprinkles' Shimmer embossing powder.  Easy Peasy for a fabulous look!  The little tag is Stampin Up and the green cardstock is the discontinued Handsome Hunter - I wish they would bring that one back!

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Gingerloft - Trees
ABC Christmas Challenge - O is for O' Christmas Tree
One Stitch at a Time - Anything Goes
